Saturday

Been up since 5 and grateful to have slept that long. The sunrise is lovely, but hard to get a picture because of the trees and besides it is terribly frosty out.

Planning on making the rum cake today. Of course that was yesterday's plan too. Holding off on the caramel corn knowing I will eat too much of it.

Received a beautiful gift from my housekeeper. She is a very kind person which balances out her sometimes lack of reaching my standard if housecleaning.

Haircut day turned out to be a big social day. An old friend came to visit in the morning which was enjoyable. At the salon I met a man who had been to the original Woodstock, unusual and most entertaining plus met and talked with an interesting woman of similar age. And, the new stylist was young and fun; first man I've had do my hair in ever so long, gave the best head massage ever. If I could meet folks like this more often, I might start leaving the farm now and again.

The eye doc visit showed my pressures were good but my narrow angles are not. So, January 8 finds me going for laser surgery to open them up to prevent closure and loss of vision. A bit more intense than my earlier laser work, words like pain, blood and cloudy vision were in the conversation, I am most hopeful for success and the numbers are in my favor-75% positive results.

Spending the weekend waiting for Christmas which seems slow in arriving. Erin says we started too early.

Reading a new author, Robert Goolrick whose book, "A Reliable Wife" relies too heavily on sex scenes for my taste. I am reminded of something an friend once said, "As far as I'm concerned, it is not a spectator sport." Yet, the thread of romance, the overlay of sorrow and the historical frame have kept me going.

Watched "Solaris" if for no other reason than to ogle George Clooney and feed my need for romance. It had been some time since I last saw it, still enjoyable.

And one more dishcloth to finish.

I personally make it a point not to ogle George Clooney. Natascha McElhone, however, seems to be another matter, lol. And of course we've long since agreed that we're in sync about the romance part.

Wishing you the best regarding your eye procedures. Currently gathering the fortitude to tackle a few such things myself...

She still looks great, has a role in " Designated Survivor" on Netflix. I watch it now and then. 17 years since Solaris, still worth looking at.

Body maintenance in this life stage I find scary and irritating, but necessary.

Seems you had a wonderful day at the hair salon. I wish they could all be like that. My sister suffers with glaucoma so I understand what you are going through with it. She has had to deal with some painful procedures but still has her sight so feels it's worth the discomfort once in awhile. I wish you all the best in that regard.

Thanks so much. I am glad your sister is doing well. The treatment has improved so much. My mother had glaucoma too, many years ago and didn't do great.

I have to agree with your friend.
Love and murder are NOT spectator sports.

I love thd glow of salt lamps.

I suspect my guy is gay, but hard to tell these days with gender roles being so confusing ( at least to me).

*sigh* As am I. I am ALL for all types of loving and just being yourself...but when they introduced a THIRD bathroom door? I was like NO. This is too much... It's just stupid.

Please keep it at TWO washrooms, use WHICHEVER you like...BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD JUST WASH YOUR HANDS!!!

Very lovely dawn photo!

Cake making sounds like a good activity for the cold weather.

Your housekeeper is very thoughtful :)

Cool that you met someone who actually went to Woodstock! One of my lj friends did, too, but she's rarely on here anymore.

Hope you future eye work goes well!

And I'm like you with books and movies on that score.

Cloudy this morning, no sunrise visible.

Lucked out, husband made rum cake. He can be useful lol

It is just so good to meet someone who is still part of the counter culture. The guy actually had long hair. We had a nice FB convo last evening, msybe he will turn out to be a friend.

It was cloudy the night before last here, too, and still cloudy in the morning. But I was the beautiful full moon last night!

Oh, yummy! Your hubby's a keeper! But you already know that :P

Sounds like an interesting and like-minded person. That would be great of you could be friends with him!
