I'm Cracking Up

Truly this week has been not the greatest, but at least nothing is permanent in this Universe and today has so far been the best of all. The trees are turning though they say they won't peak until next week. The wind from a recent storm took off quite a few leaves. The first Sugar Maple to turn has lost most of her leaves, but they still look lovely just lying around.

The oh so wonderful Tortilla Soup was a hit with everyone except my stomach. It tasted delicious going down, not so much so as I was hurling up my guts all that night. After that tiring experience I spent yesterday blitzing "The Path" and "The Man in the High Castle," and doing very little else.

By evening I was rallying and finished the first of the lacework socks and cast on the second. I think I'm going to like them.

Today is a totally perfect example of what I want Autumn to be, crisp air, leaves on the ground, bright sunshine and very little wind, temps around 60. Having acquired some mirror tiles I worked for a bit on the sidewalk cracks, but alas ran out of goop once again and had to stop. And again the picture does not work well, but I guarantee that there are mirrors in that strip. Maybe in another light they will show up better.

Erin, Anah, and big J have gone to a local rock formation called "The Pinnacles" to suck up some sunshine and fresh air while they clamber about on the rocks. I managed a walk around the yard earlier, no small feat. The yard is huge after all, nearly 10 acres

I finished the not so great mystery and started another novel, "Case Histories" by Kate Atkinson which is proving to be interesting right from the start.

The husband went to the city and came home with swordfish and salmon so I'm thinking we will be having grilled fish tomorrow. Had planned friend chicken, but the fish will not be so messy to cook and probably better for us. Also, I can start to use up more of the sweet potatoes

Tomorrow, Erin and I may go explore Sugar Creek Lake and check out the trees up that way. Haven't visited that area for a couple of years and we get off on the reflection of the trees in the water. It's the simple things, ya know.

How sad that the Tortilla Soup affected you the way it did. Those are pretty socks and your sidewalk cracks are coming along beautifully. I haven't started the new season of The Man In The High Castle. I'm waiting for a day when I can do nothing but watch it. Maybe a rainy or ugly day. I'm sure we'll have one soon. lol

We have a really nice rock formation area here. Hueco Tanks State Park. We used to spend hours climbing those rocks. It's great exercise. Walking your ten acres is definitely no small feat. I'm impressed.

A couple more nice days ahead so I might get thst crack finished, fingers crossed.

I just started Season 2 of ..."High Castle" definitely good for rainy day binge watching.

BEAUTIFUL fall photos! Wow. Great colours!

The cracks are looking fab--and I can totally see the mirrored pieces! They look like they are shining light <3

Those socks are beautiful!

I'm sorry the tortilla soup effected you so badly. Was it the tomato?

I'm sure your path look very pretty with those mirrors.

It gets harder to soak in the sunshine as we get older. Maybe not the clambering of rocks for you, but a trip out to see the fall trees and their reflection in the water will be a good thing.

And the fish will be good for you :)

The soup could have bern the tomato or thr chicken broth which can sometimes be bad for me. Ah I miss the days when I could eat whatever I wanted.

Looking forward to the fish, hard to find in winter. We will only eat wild caught.

Sure hope to make it to the lake too..

I have found that tomato is too acidy for me. The chicken broth should be good for your gut...unless it has got onion in it. I have to make my own.

I never in a million years thought I would not be able to eat certain foods when I got older. I didn't even know this happened to people! Now I'm finding out that it is a part of aging :(

I'm at last finding some answers by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsIN8tSWjI8&feature=youtu.be&t=2041

I wonder how much of this is caused by antibiotics and roundup which kills gut microbes?

It did have onions. I make my own broth too, also bone broth from grass fed beef. And, I take probiotics daily.

My whole family has gut issues, even the kids. And, yes I think it is due to both antibiotics and roundup. We live in an agricultural area so you can't escape it even though daughter no. 4 and I are fanatic about sourcing clean food and growing what we can organically. Pollution is everywhere, the air, the groundwater, so distressing.

I'll check out that video, thanks.

Thought maybe things were less polluted where you live, no?

Oh, you have the same gut problems as me! Yes, antibiotics and glyphosphate. Thank goodness I have moved to an area where there is less farming. We were getting sick in out previous house because of the constant spraying, which still goes on to this day. In fact, the next owner died of a neurological disease (she was retired), the daughter is still there and still being sprayed and she doesn't like it! She has asked the farmer next door to let her know when he's spraying but he says she can just shut her windows...when it's too late! I am going to have to go all organic and am in the process of changing over just now. I hope that video helps!

Gorgeous autumn shots! Hope you manage to get your expedition to the lake - autumn colours reflected in a still lake are always the most magical....

I love your sidewalk crack mosaics.

Thanks, huge compliment coming from you being such a great photographer. :-)

Lets hope the cracks stay intact through the winter cause I like them too. Hehe
