Frosty Forecast

Temps supposed to drop to low 30's so took a picture of the flowers in case they die. All those blossoms from two zinnias I pulled up by mistake,  and stuck in a bare spot at the end of the raised bed.

Has rained all day, cold rain, so I've stayed inside. Been up since 4 a.m. so lots of time to fill.

Tried drawing, very out of practice.

Almost finished with "The Secret History."

Turned the heel on the lace sock.

Was going to work in my art journal, but all my collage materials are under the kitchen stuff I moved to make room for the Halloween decor. Too lazy to move all that. Last entry in art journal Mar 20, 2018.

Spent an hour on the phone talking to a pharmaceutical Tech about the design of the bottle that dispenses my eye drops. She was very helpful and hooked me up with the manufacturer's rep as she said they had had a number of complaints from other customers. It is irritatinngly impossible to get the drops into my eyes without spilling some. Seeing a new ophthalmologist next week so maybe he'll put me on some other kind of drops because I'm sure it will take them forever to get a new design for that bottle if they ever do.

Made an apple crisp last night and I think I'll go eat some. It sounds comforting enough as we now have seemingly bypassed Autumn and moved directly into winter.

OMG, know the feeling. But actually tried the melatonin last night and, even though I still got up a couple of times, was able to go back to sleep.

Only thing is, and I didn't think this was supposed to happen with melatonin, I felt sort of a groggy hangover from it all morning.

Gotta say, I do LOVE those art journal pages! And hope you enjoy your apple crisp along with the rest of your day...

PS - I too have "The Secret History," but haven't read it yet. Gotta get crankin' on "Code Girls" for book club in a couple of weeks!

In case you didn't know, melatonin is not recommended for folks with hypertension as it can raise BP. Lots of sources say it can cause sleepiness the day after taking it, but don't know if that is the same as being groggy. And, truly who knows if any sources are reliable. My problem is falling asleep too early. The eyedrops I use for glaucoma burn like the devil and I close my eyes for relief and fall asleep at 7. I don't like being awake in the wee hours because I get anxious and I'm alone which sucks. I want to rent someone to sleep with lol (just sleep mind you). The dog is too old now to jump up on the bed.

Glad you like the art journal, it has been fun and an easy way to find fulfillment in the art department.

I finished "The Secret History." To say I enjoyed it is not truly accurate. I did find it captivating, lots of plot twists, interesting characters, but depressing. While Tartt's writing skills are suberb, sadness I don't need, have plenty already. I do have "The Goldfinch," but am not going to read it next, maybe the Joni Mitchell bio. Have read a lot of criticism of "Goldfinch" that says it a children's book. I am interested to see for myself, but not ready yet.

Looking at my drawing, I think I need to be practicing thst skill before picking up another book lol

Hope you slept well last night.

Thank you for that info on melatonin! I've been jumping through my butthole lately to do everything possible to lower the BP and then overlooked this! Yikes! And, yes, I've felt drowsy the day after.

So sorry about the eye drops and wee hours problem. I hadn't thought about calling a rental service but maybe I'll check the yellow pages to see if there's such a one here, lol. I'm actually feeling sympathy for your old dog because I can barely climb into the bed I have downstairs. So I sleep in the "fitness room" upstairs. Kind of ironic, no?

Totally agree with you about the emotional slant of Tartt's writing. Seems that so many I've read lately have been like that and, like you, I really don't need it. Hence my totally serious thoughts of moving on to a "summer romance" or other such lightness of mind/heart/being.

Looking at your drawing, I think that, yeah, I'd be all about it if I had your talent. Which I don't. Even my stick figures are embarrassingly lame, lol.

I did sleep the prescribed hours but with the usual ups and downs. The difference is that, with the melatonin, I was always able to crash right out again as soon as I hit the pillow. Regardless, I'm still really glad have that info about the side effects. The next crash heard in this house will be the melatonin bottle hitting the trash can, lol.

Hope you have a great day and if you have any recommendations for a beach romance, LMK. I'll just glue a Mossy Oak cover on it...

I hope the information was correct about the rise in BP, I wouldn't want to be the cause of your missing even more sleep, thus my disclaimer about all info bring suspect. The best thing to do is check for yourself using that cuff you bought. You should be able to see whether or not it is making it go up.

Definitely ironic about the bed and the stairs. Of course, if necessary, you could crawl up the stairs.

So, maybe I should start a new business...Sleep Buddies, Inc. Lol I think there's a need for it.

No beach romances currently on the shelves here. Reading about something I long for is almost as painful as being depressed. I still haven't recovered from " The Dog Stars." I've switched back to mysteries for the moment. For some reason murder and mayhem aren't triggers for me.

Back to hypertension, there are a few practices and other ideas that have worked for me. I'll email you about those soon.

Mossy oak book covers, my word, what will you come up with next? *guffaw*

Brr! Nice to take some pics of bright flowers to make you feel warmer.

I know what you mean about being stuck indoors because of the rain or whatever because that's been happenign to me, too!

Very nice art journaling!

And the only way to get better at drawing is to keep practicing! Is this a family member?

Today the sun is trying to come out, hoping to spend some time outside.

I enjoy the art journal though I don't work on it often.

Not a family member, just an image I made up. Will probably get back into drawing during the winter, long months ahead of being stuck inside. Definitely need more practice.

I hope you get some time outside, too.

That's very good for something just made up! I'm sure we will get some more masterpieces as winter advances.

I went outside yesterday and worked on the sidewalk cracks till I got chilled. And today got out in spite of the cold and rain, picked some beans.

Thanks for the drawing encouragement. <3

Brr...not a time to be doing art in your back yard!

And beans are yummy. I'm glad you got some picked, in spite of the cold and rain.

Old Flame's taken to getting about in a raincoat :)

My guy is mental for apple-anything. You're lucky you're far away 'cause you'd bake something and he would just magically be outside your door o_O

The journal is a fun project, every year I manage to make a few pages, interesting to see how my mood changes.

I love zinnias, they grow so easily from seed and are so colorful.
