At Least It's Cloudy

Though there is only a small chance of rain the skies are are overcast with the added benefit of a brisk breeze. It's almost pleasant outside. Went out at 6 and cut the asparagus for the last time. We have had lots and the spears have started to dwindle  along with for my enthusiasm for harvesting.

Other crops look good due to the husband's dedication to watering during this summer of no rain at all. The second planting of French fillet beans is coming up which is gratifying especially so because the seed was costly.  Yesterday I put 3 quarts of strawberries in the freezer. We are apparently sated for the moment with fresh ones.

Anah was not released to go to camp or play tennis. The camp thing was a relief to her because she didn't really want to go, but not to her aunt who had paid the rather enormous fee just so the cousins could go together one more time. Not being able to attend tennis practice is a sore subject as well as weight lifting being a no go. She is making progress and sees the doctor June 12, so hopefully will be improved enough to skip surgery.

We are going back and forth on whether or not to go to St. Louis on Sunday to see Stephen Marley. Today I'll call the venue and see if further info will help us decide. Matisyahu, whom I've never seen is opening and that sways me to saying yes, but whether or not I can be assured of a seat may be the deciding factor.

So far, this summer has been boring and stressful and  my mood swings from depression to panic. Too much time in the house but miserable outside. The recent "holiday" weekend was nice with pool time and great food that I didn't have to cook or clean up afterward.

In a effort to create diversion I cast on a pair of socks yesterday using some hand dyed yarn bought years ago. Not sure I like the colors, but surely someone will.

I was so desperate for something to do that I cleaned the fridge and the drawers in the kitchen. Guess I could do the last closet today or not. The dog is still clean. I could bathe the cats.

Grateful for books or I would truly go mad.

Oh wow--you can bathe your cats?? Mine would rip me to shreds...

That's great that Anah has so many physical interests, sending wishes that she can indeed skip surgery and get back to her life. It must be driving her nuts not to move like she wants to.

Sorry to hear about your mood/mood swings but I'm glad you're talking about it. You know we understand <3
You'll be back on the upswing soon <3

Looking forward to seeing those socks :)

Actually joking about cats though my old Siamese loved baths. I miss him.

Yes Anah is snarly, inactivity is not good for her.

My whole long life has been a rollercoaster, its tiring.

Aww lol oops :) That's really cute, though, that your Siamese loved baths :) He must've trusted you very much <3

I understand. If my ticket wins tomorrow night you and I are going to Jamaica for a week or two for a little decompression <333

That's a bummer that outside time has been so miserable. Look out cats!

The 21st is when you should stop picking the asparagus. I used to use Christmas as a guide, although I found stopping before that better for the plants. That's a lot of strawberries you are getting!

I actually saw some Stephen Marley and he's quite okay. I think you should go...if you can get a seat! There's no way I would stand up for a whole concert. I just haven't got it in me any more.

That's a bit of a rock and a hard place for Anah. I hope she improves and the pain goes away and she doesn't need surgery.

Knitting socks: cool! I'm sure someone will love the colours. I do knitting in the summer. And books to the rescue!

Thanks for the asparagus info. Would that be May or June 21 here? My brain and numbers not so good.

Stephen is quite good, have seen him before. Going to Colorado in June to see Ziggy, always sad I never saw Bob.

Talked to the folks at the venue yesterday. Music is outside, only seating at bar but could rent a wheelchair and they will give me special area. Still undecided, but easy to make decision at last minute as its not far, about 150 miles.

Anah is at least feeling better, less pain with more mobility. So hopeful.

June 21st.

Ah well, closer to the time, then. I guess it depends on whether you feel like seeing him or not, and a lot may depend on the weather.

I'm glad Anah is feeling better. That is a good sign!
