Mother's Day

Thinking of my mother, gone now for 26 years. Our relationship was rocky perhaps because we were too much alike. Yet, even so, I still admire her for the many obstacles she overcame and for her incredible creativity. I can't say I miss her really, it's been a very long time, but I do appreciate and understand her more with the passage of time and do wish her life had been a bit longer and a great deal happier.

Thank you, were women more beautiful then? At least they were more natural.

I don't know if women in general were more beautiful, but photography was more of an art than a commodity ... so beauty could be conveyed more powerfully.

But that said, your Mom was really beautiful.

I really, really do. It was a look of substance. I grew up aspiring to 'heroin chic' *eye roll*

Your mother was a beautiful woman. You look a lot like her. I lost mine 4 1/2 years ago, so I still miss her. We did not get along and I did not see a lot of her for many years. We sort of made up towards the end.

Thank you. She was stunning in her youth. She grew up in poverty and without much love so I now understand she just didn't know how to love me.

We would probably have gotten along better if she had not favored my brother so much. I was jealous of that.

I'm sorry your mother had such a hard time in her youth.

I do not favour any of my kids. I just don't see how I could have favoured any one over another. I loved them all equally. My mother, however, had her favourites. I wasn't one of them, but never ever resented the existence of any of my brothers or sisters. I loved them all, too.
