Nothing Going On

Just hanging out waiting for Spring to feel like Spring. The spinach could be picked but I have not been inclined to doing so with current temps in the 30's. Warmer days ahead but with rain. Happy for rain, but not spinach picking weather either.

Meeting a high school classmate for lunch. He lives in Chicago and passes through here usually once a year. I was going to blow off our usual meet up for lunch, but my girls really pushed me to get out. Certainly I do stay home a lot.

Worked on the art journal and the sock yesterday though not simultaneously. Started a sketch, no joy in the process though. Ah passion, please come back.

Binge watched a couple of documentaries on Netflix over the weekend. First was a detailed account of the settlement of followers of Rajneesh/Osho in Oregon. Very interesting indeed. Of course I remember the news clips, but the details are fascinating. The other was about Adderal and other "performance enhancing" drugs and it rather amazed me the attitude toward their use by college students and young professionals. I cannot believe that kids who take this stuff from childhood are not going to be fucked up. Basically it's speed. Folks get all worked up about methamphetamines, but make sure their kids "take their pills", crazy, just crazy. Title = "Take Your Pills."

Sesame chicken in slow cooker.

Pooper scooper arrived yesterday, how's that for excitement?

Personally, I like speed. :-)

I mean, I'd never use street meth. No QA process involved, and you never know what that shit has been cut with.

But speed made under carefully regulated laboratory conditions?

Sure, I'd take that.

Not every day, of course. :-)

But as a recreational activity every now and then. :-)

I like it too, maybe a little bit too much. There used to be a lot of nice clean pharmaceutical speed around in the early 70s and it was easy to get.I suppose this would be something like that. Adderal bring amphetamine though Ritalin is not.

Do know some mature women who have scripts. Just watching the show made me want that speed rush. Gosh I might actually do something that I could finish before I got tired.

Adderol is what they used to call dexedrine. :-)

A very nice high.

it's easy to get a prescription if you want to use it like that. I know people who consider it a drug and take it something like 4-8 times a year, and have a prescription that they refill once in a while. I think it's funny how doctors will happy write a prescription for people who take it like this as well as those who take it daily. It strikes me as acknowledgement that it is more drug than medicine.

Wow, a pooper scooper - I dunno, that's pretty wild stuff compared to what's going on here. We are dark and grey, just waiting for the rain to fall. I am not inclined to leave the house much either and probably wouldn't if it wasn't for work and the fact that TBG can't stand to be in the house for more than a couple of hours at a time (he gets really bad cabin fever). I don't know what's going to happen to him when he retires!

I sometimes think that I might have benefited from having a job, well other than all the jobs that I had here at the farm.

I started working on the farm when I was seven and could not wait to get off it and get a 'paying' job. Now I think back fondly on those times. They certainly gave me a work ethic that stuck with me.

Enjoy lunch with your friend :) Always nice to catch up like that

All those drugs freak me right out--especially when it's KIDS we're talking about. I wrote at least a dozen papers on that crap in college :l Made me so angry...couldn't stop researching... It's one of those things that just pisses you off more and more the deeper you dig. In a nutshell, big pharma sure has the world by its balls. Also, fuck corporate greed. I stay away from all those things because I'd rather feel every shitty thing life has to offer than go through it numb with a dumb-ass smile plastered across my face.

I just feel that in general our children today are pushed and pushed to produce and succeed and maybe do way too much and then adding drugs to that mix cannot possibly be good on developing brains. Big Pharma has managed to to turn all illness into being managed rather than cured and that really pisses me off.

Sesame Chicken in the slow cooker is exciting! Oh, and if you're looking for inspiration, I just spent an hour or so on eBay looking at art works up for auction. Suddenly, I can't wait for dinner to be over so I can go paint a picture.

Now i would never have thought of eBay, so thanks for the new idea. Did you paint?

Yes I did. Very badly, thank you very much. But I had a great time doing it.

Spring is slowly coming here. Around eight degrees C though. So not warm enough yet.

hello! just wanted to say hi. I found you when you commented on a friend's journal, and I loved your icon so much that I couldn't not add you.

I am 31 and I have friends who are addicted to Adderal and insist that they "need" it. It's hard to have a rational conversation about substance use anyway, but especially hard when it is called medicine. I agree with you. Decades of use and sanctioned abuse can't have no side effects. Hi. And nice to meet you. Glad you like the icon. I've been using it a long time.

I love the quote, so very true. So much of what is screwed up on Planet Earth is because we have turned away from what is natural.
