The Weekend

Nice weather prevailed though I didn't get out much. Watched a couple of decent enough movies, Secret Sacramentthough predictable provided a lovely bit of sweet, if heartbreaking romance and a happy ending. Vanessa Redgrave, a favorite of mine was excellent. The other was an Independent Australian flick, Four of a Kind which included sex, murder and betrayal all with that wonderful Aussie accent. It did keep me guessing as to whodunit and though that was not openly resolved I felt sure my guess was correct.

Cooked both days and various offspring showed up to eat. Amazing how they come round when there is food available.

Enjoyed an unexpected visit from my eldest who brought me up to date on her new educational venture, a course in court proofreading which hopefully will pan out to be salvation from her current career in geriatric nursing.

The youngest is in her 2nd week of suffering from a respiratory ailment but felt well enough to take her daughter to the movies.

Brother continues to have difficulties with the colostomy care and calls me repeatedly. Very stressful as he is so repetitive and yet I feel such an obligation to listen. Somehow must resolve this as it is affecting me adversely.

About 2 am enjoyed a thunderstorm which was bright and loud but held little rain.

Fell asleep way too early so was up a lot last night, but hoping to begin another in my Missouri Roadside series.

I do love thunderstorms.

Ah yes, the tooth thing dampened my enthusiasm for food and I've been tired of cooking for years so not as many visits.

I have to admit that cooking keeps me sane, so with or without visitors, I'm hooked.

"...sex, murder and betrayal all with that wonderful Aussie accent."

I used to pay about $500 a week for my grandson to attend soccer camp at Syracuse University just so I could hang around for a few minutes of youth sports mayhem managed by a coaching staff with wonderful Brit, Scandinavian, and Australian accents, lol...

Me too, especially if it's French. My kids used to hate watching Pepe LePew with me, lol...

Thunderstorms--getting to that time of year!

And cooking and the family visiting--glad you got time to yourself to enjoy a movie or two.

And hope your brother can get the hand of the colostomy care.

Oh you lucky duck! Our last thunderstorm was probably September sigh

Glad your offspring are around, even if they are food scavengers ;) lol What did you make?

Hope you get your sleep schedule back on track <3

Offspring all close, made roasted shrimp, sweet potatoes and asparagus plus some sauteed shrooms.

I love that you call them that lol.

Sounds DELICIOUS! Asparagus is pretty much my favourite veggie and I love mushrooms, too! My guy detests them, though, both actually, so I don't eat it nearly enough. I can't wait to start gardening so I can grow just enough to have fresh stuff and not waste it :)

Thank you--I think I have :D I fell asleep before 11PM (unheard of) and slept right until 8AM. I feel like a million bucks!!

Colostomy care is tricky, so I guess patience is needed where your brother is concerned. Now is the time he needs loving, caring people, even if all they do is listen and give suggestions if he wants it. Although the repeating over and over will get old quickly.

Glad you got to spend family time :)

I would never watch that movie because I would be too scared, but glad you got to watch it :)

Hope you have a good sleep tonight. I have been woken too early two mornings in a row and it's a bit chilly early, now!

I feel a bit guilty about needing time off from the listening, but I'm hanging in there because I am all he's got.

I am always up early, but go to sleep early. That will change with the light cycle.

Which movie did you think would be scary?

You're a good sister :)

I get woken by the light. I didn't need to be woken pre-dawn!

Oops! I meant Four of a Kind.

The movie wasn't scary, not like American movies with all the bloody scenes, which is why I mostly watch British and Australian video.

Oh, really?

I really tend to avoid movies with that subject matter, so I probably didn't give it a chance :P
