lol I love how everyone has that cookbook :) I've made so many great things out of it!

Nice work! I enjoy the evolution of the phones there

It's a great old cookbook, still use it in spite if cruising Pinterest.

I wish I had a hand held phone to put in there but alas all gone

I did not enjoy the drawing and wasn't very pleased with the result.

I grid like crazy when I have to do still life to help with perspective. Give me landscapes and people any day.

Now you've given me an idea, forgot grids. Have no formal education so I'm just bumbling along.

I have my degree in art and was a theatrical scenic artist before my back went south. My specialty was backdrops and there were times when, well, actions speak louder than words. This was the backdrop for Jesus Christ Superstar - it measured 85' by 45' You can't tell really, but the drop has been gridded and my original piece of artwork is hanging just to the right of the figures.

Oh that's wonderful. I see the tiny original there. Though its been years, have done a lot of amateur theater work with children. Lucked out in having my BFF's now ex husband, a professional artist, to do the sets. But oh did we ever have fun.

So sorry about your back and totally empathetic as well. But on thr upside you are still involved in other ways, yes?

Yes, I work in the office for SCT and am the resident prop artisan. It's not as much fun as painting, but on the plus side, I don't get paint all over my pants.

That's a delightful mixture of old and new. Does the rotary phone still get used, or is it just for decoration? I have one of the Moosewood Coookbooks. I keep meaning to buy the Better Homes and Gardens book, but then forget whether I have already done so, so I don't bother (and then I see a picture and repeat the process).

We no longer have a landline so the old phone is just a memento of my husband's career in the communications field. I love the Moosewood books and many family faves come from them. The Better Homes is my 2nd copy and well used, a great standard reference, highly recommended.

I have vague childhood memories of a phone shaped more or less like that.

That bear thing looks more "alive" in your drawing. :)

We had a phone just like that when I was a child, in the fifties. This one is a memento of my husband's career with AT&T.

Oh and the white thing is a pig, a vintage cream pitcher actually.
