Trying to get back to a regular meditation practice. Up until about a year ago had been very faithful to sitting for at least 15 minutes, sometimes more, nearly every day; but as so often happens in my life, I got away from the habit and have not been doing any type of formal meditation.

Happy that I can once again sit on my red cushion, because at the time I stopped my back pain prevented me from using it. I like it better than sitting in a chair.

Pleased to find that I can do 15 minutes easily still. I'm thinking this is because all the breathwork and mindfulness stuff I do when I wake up in the middle of the night has kept me in the necessary mindset.

Hoping that I can once again establish a habit of sitting for at least 15 minutes every day.

Continuing to do some upper body work with small hand weights on a not so regular basis, but at least I'm trying.

Failing lately to get out the door and walk down the road a ways and then back home. It is so fricking cold out there, 28*F this morning. I turned on the heating pad, wrapped up in a blanket and took a morning nap.

Employing retail therapy as distraction and having a love/hate relationship with this great pair of black boots I bought today. I love them, but I really don't "need" them and probably won't wear them much...blech. I wish I could just get over feeling bad about spending money on things I just want, but don't need.

Surviving a challenging week. Sometimes I think they're all challenging and then I realize just how blessed I really am.

Thinking this post could go places I'd rather not end up so saying goodnight. Hope we all sleep well and dream of flying.

Good for you for making a conscientious effort on your spiritual health (and mental, and emotional--meditation is fantastic). Let us know how it goes for you! I'd love to hear about any tips or special things you do when you meditate (everyone is different).
It made me smile to read this because I too am finding my way back to meditation, and I've been trying to connect with more people who share some of my interests, and now I find out this is one of yours. I have my own special brand of it (but, I do that with everything) but I've definitely felt the benefits and know how peaceful/healing it can be.

And don't beat yourself up about the boots ; ) You deserve 'em. We all deserve a treat now and then, and it's not a treat if you need it. It's not like you went out and bought a sports car on a whim! (Aquarians are master rationalizers. Stick with me hehe)

Thanks. I'm always happy to connect with someone like you who realizes the importance of mind/body/spirit in making us healthy and whole. The Universe has a way of creating opportunities for us humans to share experiences.

As for tips, I use a variety of practices, including chanting, zikr, and yoga. My meditation is simple, just focusing on the breath works well for me. I've been on this path for sbout 50 years so have tried lotsa stuff. I find that remembering to be in the "moment" is vital, but damn, it's hard.

Oh, I wore the boots today, love em, deserve em ... :-) Double Sag here btw...my oldest friend is an Aquarius

Love and hugs

And I'm sure they looked great on you! : D

I've been looking to get into chanting, but the sound of my own voice kind of spooks me out after awhile, but I'm working on it! I don't come across many people interested in zikr, do you have a special connection to it? I've always been drawn to the Native (Aboriginal, I'm not sure what the correct term is today) culture and ways, but I have no "real" connection other than I love it and it's always interested me.

When I meditate I use a rain/thunderstorm Youtube video (it's never the same one, I don't want to get used to them) and prop myself up on pillows on my bed (always making sure the bedding is fresh and the room is clean/tidy). I allow natural light in, always moon. I've never tried to meditate in the morning, but I think I'll give it a try this week! I always employ many crystals and am a Level 3 Reiki Practitioner : )

Double-sag! Dangerous ; ) I'm guessing nothing ever stops you. My Tinman (the hubs, he's called "Tinman" because he's in sheet metal--not sure if I explained the nickname to you and sorry if I'm repeating myself!)

I'm Aquarius with Scorpio Rising/Ascendent, which I'm happy with : ) I think I'm pretty "textbook", too, when it comes to all the descriptors/traits, so with me what you see/read is exactly what you'll get! I have no time for façades or people who put up a fake front. I recently asked the Universe to bring new, open-minded friends into my life and overnight I met you and two other lovely women whom I'm so enjoying getting to know : )

Hugs and love!

Re: Giiiirl!
Zikr...my youngest daughter is Muslim and I've visited a number of Sufi c communities with her. Also we do Zikr together sometimes. I learned many of the Islamic prayers and sometimes use them as well

Cool anout the Reiki. I am level 2.

Well not much stopped me when I was young, it's different now. I do have Pisces as my rising sign. Not well versed in astrology. Read Tarot professionally for a time but am rusty now.

I'm enjoying getting to know you.

That is so cool! There is so much about Islam that is beautiful, and if you ask me pretty much all of the religions have a lot of wonderful aspects, and it's unfortunate (to say the least...) when people "radicalize" and use it maliciously. It's always a nice bonus when you have a direct link like that through friends/family.

I used to know so much about astrology but I'm rusty now, too, but I try to do Reiki every day, even if it's just for one minute. If I don't think I "need" it then I just send it out into the Universe. I absolutely love tarot reading and want to start doing it professionally from my new home : )

While not religious in a traditional sense (though raised Christian) I value and appreciate the commonality of certain truths that run through all the major religions.

*hugs* and the best of luck with your meditating. That's what I should be doing, but I can't find time to stop thinking. Perhaps after the show closes. happy flying dreams!

Hugs. I'm glad you are getting back into the meditation. I used candles for a bit last year and I quite enjoyed the peaceful time, but it's not really my thing.

I totally get the guilt about the black boots. Do try to enjoy them.

Black boots are practical and chic. Every woman with feet needs a pair. I need a pair.

I fall off the meditation wagon sometimes. With my back I prefer to lie down for it though sometimes I fall asleep so I only do longer sessions at night. I tend to chant in my head because speaking distracts me.

Thanks forvthe validation on the boots.

I'm hopeful it will help me physically as well as emotionally as it has done so in the past.

I truly appreciate your understanding about the boots. Having always lived a frugal lifestyle, I am uneasy when I feel extravagant.

I don't have a lot of extra money to burn and always feel bad if I feel I've wasted some! But I also think treating yourself once in awhile is OK and you shouldn't feel guilty for doing it. That's a beautiful picture of the lady floating!

I am enjoying the boots and at least they fit my daughter too. I've never had a lot of money so I try to be careful with what I've got for sure.

Glad you like the picture.

I've always wanted to look more into meditation because I've heard a lot of good things about it, but I seem to have a lot of trouble just quieting my mind. I'm glad to hear that you're trying to get back into good habits, and I feel the same guilt about retail therapy. It doesn't usually stop me, but I Do feel the guilt afterwards ;)

It took me 40 yrs to establish a regular meditation practice and then I just stopprd. It does help quiet my mind which is always nattering on but I have to be consistent. Thats always hard for me.

Glad not to be alone with my buyer's remorse.
