Friday Again

Just haven't felt like posting, but do read LJ every day. Been super busy working in garden. First green beans picked yesterday, been cutting broccoli, and pulling beets. The fridge is overflowing with veggies. Made creamed peas yesterday and pulled up the peas. Next year don't think we'll plant peas, too much work.

Attended a local Blues Jam at the 4th St. Theater. Built in 1913 as vaudeville and movie house, it has recently been renovated while still maintaining the original ornate decor. The music was barely in the okay range, but I enjoyed seeing the theater again.

Wednesday was lunch, which was at Nikkis house. Food was great, but she turned on the news and for an hour I was subjected to CNN and the shooting of the congressional baseball players. I haven't watched tv news in years and found it to be just as revolting as ever if not more so. So, not an enjoyable time.

The summer is passing quickly which is good as it is my least favorite season.

What a boring entry, no wonder I'm not writing much,

I find your gardening posts interesting. I got my first lettuce yesterday, and that was only because some had gone to seed and I missed cleaning it up last year. I know you're further south, but I'm constantly amazed at how much further ahead your garden is.

Thanks, that's good to know. I think that after 40+ yrs of gardening I'm getting bored with the garden and that is reflected in my thoughts about my post. It does claim much of my time every summer, but is worth it for the clean food we have. Husband just cut another head of broccoli so I'll be freezing that this afternoon.

We do live in the northern part of Missouri, but still, I guess, far south of you. I've already pulled up the earliest lettuce but have a 2nd planting that is still yielding, though we are now getting temps in the 90's so exoect it to bolt soon.

Wow, such a lovely amount of fresh veg, though. I've picked tomatoes, but that's about it. I miss my garden this year

It is a nice lot of veggies and though I sound ungrateful, I do appreciate the bounty. We have cut down some over the years, but i know I'd miss it if it was gone.

What a beautiful theater facade!

I turned on CNN too, but had to turn it off a few minutes later. How I long for new to just be reported, without all the extra nauseating stuff!

Gorgeous building!

The news blaring on... it can be like a physical assault at times, do you feel that way too? I understand how it ruins a visit w. that on and no escape. *sigh It is hard to know what to do at someone's home.

We don't watch TV news at home often at all and at Dr's ofc they have bought into the trend of having 'sound buffer' w. a big ass TV and system... it is kept on Fox News! I complain EVERY visit and will keep complaining.

I do feel it in my very bones, and I don't believe it most of what they say.

Agreed, at home i can control stimulation and input, guess thats why i don't get out much.

UGH, a pox on Fox...
