50 Day Question Challenge 2016 - Day 17

17. What would you do if your parents didn't like your partner?

Of course, this all has no meaning in my life as it is now, having been married for nearly 42 years to husband #4. Yes, #4. Out of those 4 my parents seemed to like them all. A couple were barely around long enough for them to form an opinion and they were always quite pleased with dear old #4 who has proven his worth by staying the course.

For sure there were some other partners besides husbands and some they liked, some they didn't. Their biggest issue was that I was at times "living in sin," regardless of how wonderful the partner might have been.

But, quite simply, it never mattered to me what my parents thought about what I did in most respects any way. Isn't that kind of a basic tenet of the counterculture?
