This and that

The tomatoes are looking better! First we tried baking soda and water and then an organic product called Serenade and the blight has slowed down. There's lots of new growth at the top of the plants and they are blooming again. I don't expect to get enough to put up for winter but at least should have enough for a tomato pie, something I wait all year to eat.  Next year, if we have similar weather, will watch more closely for signs of disease and treat earlier.

I'm still painting rocks

I have not put any out yet, waiting to get help from grandchildren for that.

The weather has been a bit cooler this week which I really appreciate, but no rain for a while.

Not much to do so I've been knitting dishcloths as the girls are needing new ones.

As always I read a lot, finished "Atchafayala Houseboat." Thank you olbuksings for mentioning this one. It brought back memories of 1970 when I first moved to the country, totally ignorant of gardening and other back to the land skills. Yet the book left me wanting more. I didn't feel as if I really knew the characters. But just discovering this amazing way of life existed made it worth the read. In the end I,  like Calvin, found it to be too short.

Just started "When She Woke," set in a dystopian future reminiscent of "The Handmaid's Tale. " I'm not fond of the author's writing style, but suppose I will finish it just to see what happens. Somewhere in there I read yet another murder mystery set in Yorkshire,  not bad, but not on the level of  Peter Robinson.

Ding dong the dryer calls...time to fold clothes.

Have a perfect weekend everyone!

That's very good to know re: your tomatoes. I didn't plant any this year because of problems with blight the past two years.

I love your rock painting! It's always something I've wanted to try. Can you tell me the best kind of paint to use for this? :)

I have been using cheap acrylic paint, nothing special. I'm going to seal them before I put term outside. It's fun, definitely give it a go.

The weather seems to have a lot to do with blight. It's been very wet the past two summers here and last year we had it too, first time, been gardening here 40 years.
