rabid dog...

Instantly I am transported to childhood and the movie, "Old Yeller." Uncountable the times I have cried through the scenes when Yeller has to be shot cause he caught the rabies while protecting the family he loved. Cried through it with grandchildren, amazed that this current generation still  could feel so sad about the fate of an old yellow dog. Never has a dog been so brave, so loving, and grateful. Not Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, nor any of the dogs I've had in my life could hold a candle to Old Yeller.
