New Great Grandson

I am oh so happy and grateful that my newest great grandson arrived last night and both he and his mom are doing well.  My granddaughter, Amanda has been in the hospital on bed rest for the last month and all of us in the family have been holding our collective breath that she would be able to keep him inside for quite a while.  His due date was December 11.  Her water broke last week, and I learned that babies can still survive without amniotic fluid though the risk of infection is increased.  There have been many false labor alarms, ups and downs and ultrasounds.

And last night his wee foot slipped out and Amanda was rushed to surgery for an emergency C-section.  Josiah Carter Troy was born last night weighing in at 2 lbs. 11 oz. (not bad for not quite 28 wks) and both he and his mom are doing great this morning.  He is on a ventilator, but they are hopeful that he will be able to breathe on his own in just a couple of days.  He has a full head of dark hair and is already sucking on a pacifier.

I talked to both Amanda and her mother this morning and they report that he looks quite pink and healthy, his Apgar scores are good, and nurses and doctors are very positive about his well being!!

No pictures as yet.  I am going tomorrow to visit, my first time ever to go to NICU, can't wait to see the little guy.

Relief, gratitude and happiness surround me that this little soul has arrived to join our family and we welcome him with BIG LOVE and open hearts, what a miracle!
