Autumn Color

The sun is shining today and what a difference a little light makes, huh??  *grin*...

The cold and rainy weather we have been experiencing has  hastened the leaf fall, and the trees are beginning to lose that wild autumn color and turn into wraiths, dark silhouettes against the skies.  Trees are my best friends.  My bedroom window is brushed by the limbs of a towering old cedar tree.  She protects me from the wind from the north
 which is always cold.

This sweetgum shades the southern exposure and really gives me something gorgeous to look at when she changes colors.

Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918
119. Trees
I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,         5
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.  10
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

I have been thinking of this poem for the last week or so, and only now have retrieved it in its entirety.. When I was quite young, it was one of my favorites and I could recite it...

Heh.. one thing I do love about the internet.. instant info retrieval... LOL

At my age that becomes increasingly important...:)
