Remembering

It wasn't fall then but spring
So why am I remembering
The day we braided our long white hair
Together
A woven strand
Taut
Between two almost strangers
Felt like love
But was only longing
From my side
If you weren't gone
Now, I would ask you
How was it for you?

I like this, have come back to it a couple of times. I like it for the poetic wordsmithing and imagery, for sure. But I especially like how you close with that universal cliché for mere physical intimacy after your poetic rendering of the moment has already made it so much more. Of course, that's just my take on it and I haven't been right about love in over 72 years, LOL...

Wow, I love it that you like it. Just flowed out of me after reading "Missed Connections." I think I've been right about love in my almost 70 years, but mistaken about it's impermanence. Romance is so fragile and ephemeral ya know. Just like those plaited moments I remembered.
