In the early '70s, I was newly-divorced and had moved down to Houston for a year to share an apartment with my future sister-in-law and a couple of friends. She was a fledgling singer-songwriter and this piece by Townes Van Zandt reminds me of the sort of soft country-rock favored by her and her friends.

After a year, we moved back north and she hooked up with a C-R band called Overland Express and one of their feature numbers, midway though their set, had everyone but Anne and her guitar leave the stage for her cover of Stevie Nicks "Landslide." Then she went to school for electrical engineering and I don't know if she's picked up her guitar since.

I hadn't actually heard of Townes Van Zandt before this but be seems to have quite an extensive songbook and this one certainly captures a lot that I can relate to. Hope you have a good day and that each of us can find "a place to fall..."

This is my favorite Townes Van Zandt song. So me, always desirous of things I don't have.

Today I'm not sure - should I fall- if I want to land on a feather bed or a field of concrete blocks.

It's raining and chilly

Makes it

Hard
